What exactly is a Double Entry Full-Half Body Puppet? Lets start with the name;
Double Entry: An incredible feature for flexibility in performance use. You can enter the puppet through one of TWO places. Enter through the bottom of the puppet for traditional behind the stage use, or enter through the back for typical ventriloquist operation.
Why is "double entry" in a puppet so significant? Behind the stage with the arm extended overhead, entering through the bottom serves several purposes, such as: 1. Bottom entry hides your arm during performance 2. distributes weight of the puppet more evenly to make operation easier 3. allows more control over body and movement. In front of the stage, you want to enter through the back of the puppet. You want your arm free to position the puppet where you see fit. In front of the stage you will not be holding the puppet over your head and allowing it to hang. You may want to place the puppet on your lap, on stool, or allow it to stand on a table. You are not able to do this with your arm inside the body of the puppet; you will need to be able to extend your forearm out behind the puppet for full range of motion and a comfortable performance.
Why is a Full-Half Body such a big deal? They are a big deal! It is like getting two puppets for the price of one! A Full/Half body is just that. They transition from a half body puppet (without legs) to a full body puppet (with legs). You may have seen other puppets that claim to be full/half body, but don't be fooled. We've created the design and ours is the only design that offers double entry. Without double entry, the only way you can use the impostor puppet is behind the stage. If you are a professional puppeteer then you already know how important entry position is to the performance. If you are a novice puppeteer, this is one of the first things you will learn. Entry position is vital to your performance. With proper entry, you can remove the legs for behind the stage use, and replace them for use without a stage. Without double entry, you can only use the puppet behind the stage with or without the legs, but you would never need the legs behind the stage.
